Regional Community Development News
The Regional and Intergovernmental Planning Division has recently partnered with the editor of the Regional Community Development News (RC News) listserve with the goal of furthering the mission of both the Division and RC News.
RC News is devoted to making visible the existance of, and good work being accomplished by, regional council organizations. As editor, Thomas J. (Tom) Christoffel, AICP compiles from current news articles appearing in publications throughout the world utilizing the Google News (TM). He also utilizes other information resources from regional organizations. RC News is published electronically Tuesday and Friday. In the near future, we hope to feature specific articles on this site.
RC News is a product of his "Regions Work Initiative" which was launched at the World Future Society, July 20, 1998. Tom was inspired to do so because he knew his region - Virginia's Northern Shenandoah Valley - did work. It was a response to needs set out at the February 8, 1998 Regional Summit sponsored by the National Association of Regional Councils. (NARC)
